Do you know how the 15w sounds like compared to the 50w and do you know how it sounds compared to e. Very, very deep sounds, and that’s with the ‘meh’ stock speaker. It was huge, and had a great look and sound. In any event, I’m appreciating a vanilla amp that still can work in some tube bristle and grunt and gleam. Thinking of picking up the gvt5h as I have a spare cabb not getting any use. The other thing is to make sure you put vintage tubes in it.

Loved the cleans and the grit on it. The footswitchable boost pushes things to maximum with more gain and more presence for full-on metal tones if you want to scoop out all the mids, or indeed a decidely honky, Schenker-approved howl if you boost them. Everything is very neatly finished, with expertly fitted smart black vinyl and a black sparkle grille cloth adding to the GVT’s retro vibe. Get to Know Us. Playing my strat through this amp, I get some very familiar Gilmourish tones. It was not progressive and did not have a general master.

Online classified ads have really made a lot of really great guitar gear available for more people. Well, at the same time, I have played a few hours on it so far.

I also agree that being able to ‘nurse’ older gear pays off enormously. This to me is one of those great buys you get lucky on once and awhile.

WTF is it with people latching onto a very particular vintage sound and rushing in a herd to chase and own it? I tried the smaller size and they sound totally different. Which, to my lifetime-of-hearing-Twins-and-AC30’s self, sounds pretty awesome. I have not yet swapped out the speaker but did feed a nice cab with it and What surprised me the most is the very large and soft knobs for volume and master race.

That said, more gain refiew the clean channel in boost mode would have helped help fill in reviiew gap between the really clean stuff the GVT does well and the heavy drives.
